The Motherhood Blahs Pt. 2

Kids are con artists. I still think parenting is the hardest job ever, but these kids are lazy. My middle one is on lockdown this week because of the attitude. Disrespect of momma is not allowed in my house. My  husband, "The Enforcer", does not stand for it. We had a conversation with him about school work. He thinks school is hard. umm I remember waaaay more homework when I was in high school. He thinks homework should take 10 mins, then chill time the rest of the night. No baby, it doesn't work that way. When he applies himself he does a great job, when he doesn't it shows. It doesn't come easy for him, but defeating yourself before you try is not an option in my house. You will try and if you think it's hard, you must try harder. That's life, I'm not going to sugarcoat it for him. If I did, I would be setting him up for failure. I wouldn't be doing my job as a mother. I know that I will get the blahs sometimes, wondering if I'm doing the right thing for my kids, but then I realized I think I'm doing a pretty good job.

The Motherhood Blahs

Tonight was one of my blah motherhood days. The time when you wonder if you're doing a good job or not. My 16 year old hates school. He says its hard, he doesn't get it, etc. I know much of his attitude is pure teenage laziness, but a part of me wonders if I missed the mark in laying the educational foundation in him when he was in elementary school. He's our middle child so I wonder if I didn't read to him enough, nurture him enough. Who knows? Parenting is the most difficult job in the world and you often question if you're doing it the "right" way. All we can do is continue to pray for our children and keep pushing them to do their best. Hopefully my next post will be a bit of scrapbooking. This life stuff is taking up too much of my time.

Calgon Take Me Away!

Something about the days after a holiday, I get in chill mode as I have not left my couch except to hit a scrapbook yard sale and BJs. I dread going back to work tomorrow, but don't get me wrong I am thankful to have a job. Now on to a story about my youngest, 10 years old, Jordan. He has a few nicknames - we call him "Master Jordan" but you have to say it like the butler Jeffrey on the Fresh Prince of Bel Air. My dad calls him "Little Lord Fauntleroy". Now you understand what we're dealing with, but I created this monster. His favorite game Zoo Tycoon 2 is on laptop. He loves playing the game in living room watching what he calls "the big tv". Well I got him off my laptop around 5pm today because I needed to use it. So he proceeded to go in room and watch tv and play with his toys. Fast forward to bedtime, he's in his room UPSET! I ask what's wrong. He says, "My whole Sunday was wasted! I didn't get to watch the big tv at all today!" umm...screech..what?! Sunday wasted! I had to then remind him that we just watched a segment about homeless children on 60 minutes. How thankful he should be that he has a roof over his head AND a tv, video game, etc. in his room.
Motherhood is an never-ending job. After talking to him and then looking at the basket of laundry that needs to be folded, lunches that need to be made, I'm thinking I need a vacation. Just a day away..Calgon take me away!! Didn't work, I'm still here. Do they still make Calgon? Maybe I can just find something chocolate in kitchen to take me away to my happy place.

Race for the Cure 2011

It was dark and cold at 6am, but we were smiling.
                                                        Pretty Powerful Divas in Pink
Wow, look at all the people!
                                                                     Finish line
                                                                 Woo-hoo!! feeling good
What an amazing experience! This is my first 5K walk. I have been wanting do something like this for years. Challenge myself and raise money for a fantastic cause. Our team, Pretty Powerful Divas in Pink, raised $445! I exceeded my personal fundraising goal of $100 and raised $150. We finished the walk in about an hour. It was so heartwarming to see so many people participate in the race/walk. We all know someone who has been affected by breast cancer. I pray we find a cure soon. This will definitely be an annual event for us.

Time Waits For No One

It's been awhile since my last blog entry. I will try to do better (smile) Since my last post I have had a birthday, my 44th. Wow. Of course birthdays make you reflect on what you've done or didn't do. I realize I definitely need to better manage my time so I can continue to pursue my hobbies (scrapbooking, writing). Of course, as I get older so do my kids. My oldest son has left the nest. We are so proud of him but it's definitely an adjustment for me. I had an emotional moment last week, but I'm doing better now. I cannot believe how fast time flies. My husband and I still need to wait for the other 2 to leave before we can travel the world. We raised him, we're always here for him, he has a good head on his shoulders and we pray for him daily so we know he'll be fine...sigh. Boy did time snuck up on me quickly.

Life...argh!!

My blog should be called Life is Interrupting Everything! Haven't had a free moment to scrap. My table is still set up and awaiting my return. The boys are on spring break therefore, we are quickly approaching the end of another school year. My 9th graders decides he wants to be a lazy bones in English class and not turn in a project that was done in class. Can you believe it? IN CLASS!! All because he wants to talk and goof off. Needless to say, his break has not been so pleasant. This past weekend was filled with work and my niece's 3rd birthday party. This week is a busy one as well, fun stuff however. West Side Story at the Hippodrome tomorrow, Friday - movies with my youngest & then going to watch my beloved Orioles hopefully beat those Damn Yankees, Saturday - beautifying my family and friends for Easter and last but not least Resurrection Sunday..Whew, I get tired just writing all that. Hopefully I'll be able to squeeze in some me(scrap)time soon.
Go O's!!

Hard Finding the Time

Finally found some time to get some layouts done. I think I have ADD because I jump around on what I'm working on. Right now I'm working on a baby boy scrapbook, summer pictures of my family and soon I'll be starting a book for my Dad for his 65th birthday. Scored more great bargains at Woodwards, however this is the last of the scrapbook buyout stock. I bought some Tim Holtz Distressed ink pads and powders that I can't wait to try. Here are a few of the layouts. Thanks for stopping by!

Too Sick To Scrap..wahhh

I've have been battling a cold/flu for the past week and haven't had the energy to do any scrapping. I did however, spend 3 hour organizing my jackpot purchases for the auction house along with the tons of stuff I already have. Surprising thing, as I was going through the mounds of paper, rub-ons and other goodies, I was thinking about what I didn't have..lol Go figure. I found a wonderful paper organizer by Cropper Hopper at Joanns online for around $14. It holds 600 sheets of paper, can't wait to get another one. Baby steps with the organizing.

Struck a scrapbook gold mine!

My fellow scrapbook friends and I stumbled upon a hidden treasure! An auction house that had boxes and boxes of supplies from a scrapbook store that close. I thought I would faint when I walked in and saw all the goodies! Saturday, my nice big pile came to $20! Sunday, we returned - my even bigger pile came to $25! Complete with chipboard letters, Cosmo Cricket paper and K & Co kits. I'm still struggling to organize it all. I don't have the luxury of my own scrapping area other than my fold-out table set up in the dining room. Thinking of getting some Cropper Hopper organizers.

My first blog entry

I have been wanting to start a blog for sometime now. I'm new at this so bear with me. I started scrapbooking about 5 or 6 years ago, but have truly fallen in love with it in the past couple of years. It all started with a kit my husband brought home. I chuckle when I look back at those early layouts. I have come a long way, but still have so many techniques to learn. Scrapbooking for me, means creativity, it's an outlet, a stress reliever. The crops I have attended are a blast - time for bonding with friends, laughter and loads of fun. I hope you enjoy and share with me. I'll add more layouts in future blogs, thanks for checking in!
